一、表示“在...的上面或表面”
on the desk 在桌上The ink has spilt on the desk. 墨水撒在桌子上了。
on the street=in the street 在街上I met her by chance on the street. 我恰巧在街上遇到了她。
on the tree(水果长)在树上 Most of the apples on the tree have ripened. 树上的苹果大多已经成熟。
in the tree (人或动物)在树上A little bird was singing happily in the tree. 小鸟在树上快乐地歌唱。
on the wall (照片，字画)贴在，挂在墙上 I've got a photo of him on the wall. 我在墙上挂了一张他的照片。
in the wall (门、窗等)在墙上There is a breach in the wall.
墙上豁了一个口子。
二、表示时间：星期、日期、周末、具体某一天的上午/下午/晚上/夜里
on Monday 在周一I went back to work on Monday. 我周一回去上班了。
on June 24 在六月二十四日The conference formally opened on June 24. 大会于6月24日正式开幕。
on May 6, 2012 在2012年五月六日I was born on May 6, 2012. 而我是1929年6月12日出生的。
on that day 在那一天My brother and I played fireworks on that day. 我的兄弟和我放了鞭炮那天。
on the weekends 在周末This is to announce the ball on the weekend. 兹订于本周末举行舞会。
on the morning of March 17 在三月十七日的早上I left Beijing on the morning of March 17. 我在五月一日早上离开北京。
on Saturday night 在周六夜里I will be anything but quiet on Saturday night! 星期六的晚上我根本静不下心来!
on a rainy day 在一个下雨的日子Things easily get damp on a rainy day. 雨天东西爱返潮。
on a sunny afternoon 在一个晴朗的下午These clothes should be put out to air on a sunny afternoon. 这些衣服在晴朗的下午要拿出去晒晒。
三、表示在某公共节日
on Children's Day 在儿童节I often go to the zoo on Children's day. 我在儿童节经常去动物园。
on Christmas Day 在圣诞节I was born on Christmas day 我出生在圣诞节那天。
on Thanksgiving Day 在感恩节We eat it on Thanksgiving Day. 我们在感恩节时吃它。
四、表示方位：(外部接壤)
on the left/right 在左边/右边The odd numbers are on the left as you walk up the street.
沿这条街走，在左边的是单号。
on the north of ... 在北边Shandong is on the north of jiangsu. 山东与江苏北毗邻。
五、表示"关于" = about
a book on history 一本关于历史的书She is reading a book on American history. 她正在读一本关于美国历史的书。
on feeding 关于护理The longest chapter in almost any book on baby care is on feeding.几乎所有关于婴儿护理的书籍中内容最多的一章都是喂养。
